Laurie was born in Whyalla SA and met his wife Connie who was a chamber maid at the Flinders Hotel in Port Augusta. When he married Connie she was a divorcee with 5 children , on their marriage Laurie took all the children on and treated them as his own, her eldest daughter Gloria had a baby out of wedlock and Laurie adopted this child Donna and thats me. Dad was a great father and spoilt me rotten, he was a good husband and father to the other kids and I think we can all say he was a god send to us all, I am lucky to have had him as a father and I truely believe you birth matters little in life it is who loves you and brings you up that really maters..
A true hard working Aussie Bush Couple, with honesty and integrety rarely found in this day and age,Laurie was an Earth mover /Dam sinker working in some of the true arid reagions of Australia from the Strezleki Track to the Fink River in Central Australia. He built dams on Lake From Downs Station Mullihungry, Merti Merti,Caraloo and Muttaroo Stations to name a few. His Dam Sinking was an artistry in its self and he made the biggest Dam in the NWS/ SA border area at Lake frome Down Station, Managed by Bunny Hassien
His wife Connie traveled with him from Station to station living a lonely but rewarding life, starting off in Hessien Tents in the depression yrs and graduating to a Caravan in the later yrs. This life entailed making bread, washing in an old copper, and being isolated from other people for months on end. the only communication with the outside world being Radia contact with Port Augusta, Radio of the Air and the flying Dr Service in later yrs. Dad would be proud to know Trevor Geof and Myself all ended up working on heavy machinery, I was fortunate enough to be bought up in the bush and it is a great lifestyle, how ever much they wanted me to be a little girl I ended up with tickets in heavey Machinery and emulated Dad, he was my hero, I only regret my son Jesse never had the opportunity and lived in cities where he was exposed to drugs and died young.
Your in good company Jesse with your loving grandparents

I cant find the word to express
how lucky I was to have them and how badly I miss them and my son Jesse
apart from saying I am adrift and fighting to survive each day isolated, alone, heartless
because my roots have gone and my future also.
